Bethlehem Pennsylvania
Bethlehem is a city located in both Lehigh
and Northampton Counties in eastern Pennsylvania. The Lehigh
Valley region is Pennsylvania's third-largest metropolitan
area. Bethlehem is the Lehigh Valley's second most populated
city. There are three sections of the city, North Bethlehem,
South Bethlehem and West Bethlehem.
On Christmas
Eve in 1741, Nicolaus Ludwig von Zinzendorf of Saxony, Germany,
leading
a small group of Moravians, founded the city of Bethlehem. Bethlehem
became home to the first water works in America to pump water for
public usage. In 1937, the Bethlehem adopted the nickname "Christmas
City, USA". Now ever winter season visitors come from all over
to see the town. The city's Musikfest
festival in the summer is a hugh event with more than one million
visitors. Bethlehem became a center of heavy industry and trade
during the industrial revolution.
