Easton is located in Northampton County, Pennsylvania. Together with Allentown and Bethlehem, Easton comprises the Lehigh Valley. Easton is located an hour north of Philadelphia, an hour and 45 minutes northeast of Harrisburg, and an hour and a half west of New York City. Easton is the home of Lafayette College. It is also the headquarters of the manufacturer of Crayola crayons. Easton is situated at the confluence of the Delaware and Lehigh Rivers. Easton was one of the first three places the Declaration of Independence was publicly read. Easton was a transportation hub for the steel industry. Easton has a strong German heritage population.
