Norristown
is a home rule municipality located in Montgomery County,
Pennsylvania, 25 mintues west by north of Philadelphia,
on the Schuylkill River. Its official name is "The
Borough of Norristown" and it is frequently referred
to as "the borough". Norristown is in a rich agricultural
region. Norristown was incorporated as a borough in 1812.
Norristown is the most populous borough in Pennsylvania.Today
the city’s economy is powered by Montgomery County
government jobs, the legal profession, and health care.
Montgomery Hospital and Norristown State Hospital are located
there.
The Norristown Times Herald is the city's
daily newspaper. Norristown is steeped in and surrounded
by history. Valley Forge National Historical Park is nearby.
Norristown has a rich musical tradition as it was the home
to several famous jazz musicians.
