is a city located in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. The settlement
was named Wilkes-Barre, after John Wilkes and Isaac Barre,
two British members of Parliament who supported colonial
America. Wilkes-Barre's, anthracite coal gave the city the
nickname of "The Diamond City." |
