Yuengling
is located in Pottsville, Pennsylvania it is the oldest brewing
company in the United States, having been established in 1829.
Yuengling is one of the largest brewer in the United States. Besides
its two Pennsylvania locations, Yuengling also has a brewery in
Tampa, Florida.
Yuengling was started by David G. Jungling an immigrate who came
to the country in 1823. Yuengling company was first named the
Eagle Brewery when if first began in 1829. It was not called Yuengling
until 1873. This family business did not always sell only beer
at times it operated a dairy and sold ice cream. The brewery is
so old and has so much american history in it that in 1985 it
was listed as on the National Register of Historical Places.
Drive to the Yuengling brewery in Pottsville Pennsylvania and
take a plant tour of "America's oldest brewery." After
the tour make sure you check out the museum and gift shop. The
tour is of the actual brewery, while viewing the plant you will
also learn all about the companies history. After the tour there
are free drink samples for all people of age. The tours run twice
during the week at 10am and 4pm. Weekend tours are limited so
call ahead of time for more information. To take the plant tour
you must be wearing closed-toed shoes, which means no sandals.
